Three Westminster student-athletes were named an Athlete of the Week by Neighbor Newspapers during the fall season.
Ward Croft '18, Naima Turbes '19, and Meredith Ficery '18 received the recognition for their leadership on the field, as well as their achievements in the classroom.
“The kids look up to him, and the confidence Ward brings to the team is a great motivating factor for us. It is the confidence that this team has in itself (that) is the foundation of this team,” said assistant head coach Joe Sturniolo.

“For the four years [Meredith] was in our softball program, she made valuable contributions to our team, whether she was pitching, playing first base or hitting, because you could always depend on her,” softball coach Brent McGuire said. “She never played without giving us 100 percent effort, enthusiasm, leadership and was always prepared, no matter want we asked her to do.”

“[Naima] inspires and motivates her teammates to excel through her selflessness acts of kindness. For example, after finishing her workouts or races, she cheers and encourages everyone on our team until the last runner finishes,” said girls cross country coach Amy Eubanks.
