Counseling
The primary goal of the Elementary School counselor is to provide a comprehensive developmental guidance program that includes classroom guidance, small group support, and individual counseling to students in pre-first through fifth grades. The counselor serves as an important support system for students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
The counselor contributes to your child’s academic achievement and personal growth by:
- Teaching skills in leadership, positive peer relationships, coping, and decision-making
- Stimulating student awareness and skill development in communicating effectively with others, problem-solving, and managing conflicts
- Supporting students during times of crisis
- Guiding students in setting positive goals and exercising self-responsibility
- Coordinating referrals and community resources for students and families, as needed.
