Student Life in the Upper School

Student Leadership

Student leadership at Westminster comes in several forms, both in the classroom and in extracurriculars. Students can also be leaders through their behavior, modeling for others, and treating others with dignity and respect.

Leadership Councils

These are determined through applications, faculty input, and student votes (Feb-Mar)

  • Honor Council (seniors)
  • Discipline Council (seniors)
  • Service Corps (seniors)
  • Christian Life Committee (10-12th)
  • Student Diversity Leadership Council (10-12th)

Student Government

  • Six officers per grade, three boys and three girls
  • These are determined by elections in spring

Athletic Captains

Positions are determined by the teams and coaches, seasonally

  • Junior varsity and varsity sports
  • Student Athletic Council

Academic Team Leaders

  • Usually older, more experienced students
  • Chosen by the team at the beginning of the year

Performing Arts Leaders

  • Usually older, more experienced students
  • Chosen by the group at the beginning of the year

Club Officers

  • Usually older, more experienced students, although depends on the club
  • Chosen by the club members, as the club is formed or in the beginning of the year

Extracurricular Activities

  • Discovery leaders
  • GERLS, Writing Fellows, Admissions Ambassadors, and more.
