Programs

The Center for Teaching began in 2006 as a venture between The Westminster Schools and Drew Charter School. The Westminster Schools is a Christian, independent day school for boys and girls in grades pre-first-12, while Charles R. Drew Charter School is Atlanta’s first public charter school for boys and girls in grades pre-K-8. Part of the Center’s mission is to build bridges between public and independent school communities.

To fulfill its mission, the Center has embarked on the design and implementation of six programs to support and advance the professional development of faculty. Each of the following programs has a unique set of goals and a distinctive group that it targets. However, all six programs, in addition to a speaker series, work together to achieve the Center’s mission.

  • Faculty Cohort Program
  • Fellowship Program
  • Mentor Program
  • Professional Seminars
  • Teacher Leader/Administrative Programs
  • Educational Leadership/Degree Certificate
