Curriculum Development

In the area of curriculum development, the Center for Teaching can help faculty reflect on and plan their program on a macro or micro-scale. In the Center’s Faculty Cohort program, we use teacher action research (TAR) as a way for faculty to reflect on and study their teaching methods, assessment strategies or curriculum. We would use this process as a way t o facilitate planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum. Click here to view Action Research diagram. Depending upon the scope of the project, our work with a faculty member or a school’s academic department would typically be accomplished over the summer through a series of meetings or in a workshop format. We would use national and state standards, standards established by appropriate organizations (NCTM, NSTA, ACTFL, NCTE, etc.), scope and sequence information from the school’s curriculum plan, and other relevant research or data on teaching and learning in our work.
