Parent Opportunities

When is a school more than just a school?
When you get involved.

Because of the dedication of our parent volunteers, we are not simply a school—we are a community of families.

Westminster values and encourages parent engagement. Relationships between parents, faculty, students, and administrators are strengthened by parent involvement in the volunteer opportunities offered through our parent groups—PAWS, PAWS in the Lower School, and Catbackers. By finding meaningful, rewarding ways to share their time and talents, our parents find their place at Westminster and develop a sense of community. Through volunteerism, friendships are forged, good work is done, and all aspects of our school community are enhanced.

PAWS

All Westminster parents are members of PAWS (Parents Association of The Westminster Schools). PAWS leaders and volunteers play an integral role in planning and executing schoolwide events such as the annual Pigskin Picnic. In addition, PAWS sponsors parent education programs, facilitates communication to parents, and hosts regular meetings featuring school administrators and faculty to keep parents updated on campus happenings.

Westminster's libraries, admissions programs, arts department, and many more benefit from the dedication of PAWS volunteers who come together to enhance our school's programs.

PAWS in the Lower School

Parents of children in pre-first through fifth grades are encouraged to become actively involved in PAWS in the Lower School (PAWSinLS). Monthly "Coffee and Conversation" gatherings hosted by PAWSinLS provide an opportunity for Lower School parents to stay in the know about what is happening in Love Hall. PAWSinLS volunteers serve in a variety of capacities—as room representatives, field day volunteers, arts liaisons, library volunteers, and much more.

Catbackers

As Westminster's parent athletic booster group, Catbackers encourages and supports all organized sports with Wildcat loyalty and team spirit. A parent-run Steering Committee oversees production of the Green & White sports magazine, manages the concession stands, and hosts spirit events for students and parents. Funds raised through concession and spirit item sales help maintain the excellence of our athletic programs.
