Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program

We are beyond grateful to the 382 friends of Westminster who participated in the 2023 Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program. Participation in this program makes a real impact on the School's ability to enroll bright, motivated, and curious students regardless of their family's ability to pay full tuition. In the 2022-23 school year, 128 Westminster students received financial aid through GOAL. Thank you!

Westminster partners with Georgia GOAL, the state's leading Student Scholarship Organization (SSO). Each year, the Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program, combined with support from Westminster's endowed funds and annual Westminster Fund, plays a critical role in the School's overall financial aid program.

Georgia GOAL works with 199 independent schools throughout Georgia in support of financial aid for eligible students. Since the program's inception in 2008, GOAL has awarded 68,853 scholarships worth $297 million to 26,661 students. Interested in redirecting your state income tax liability to support Westminster's financial aid program? Click here to learn more about Georgia GOAL and submit your 2024 GOAL tax credit application.

GOAL is currently accepting tax credit applications for the 2024 tax year. Please see below for general program details including tax credit limits based on filing status.

How to participate and receive the tax credit:

  1. Complete the GA Private School Tax Credit Form by December 14, 2023 (it only takes a few seconds!).

  2. Georgia GOAL submits your 2024 application on the first business day of January 2024.

  3. By mid-January, Georgia GOAL and the Georgia DOR notify you of the approved tax credit amount and payment deadline.

  4. Make payment within 60 days of your approval (by mid March 2024).

  5. Take the credit! Georgia GOAL will send you a Form IT-QEE-SSO1 (tax receipt) in May 2024 for claiming the credit on your Georgia income tax return.

Please note that the Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program provides an opportunity for participants to redirect tax liability already owed to the State of Georgia to a restricted priority (financial aid) at a favorite independent school. Participation in the program, therefore, is not related to participation in the annual Westminster Fund.
