Christmas Concerts Kick Off the Holiday Season
The holiday season kicks off in style with a series of festive concerts by the Performing Arts Department, composed of more than 200 musicians.
Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the combined Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, along with the Middle School bands, will present holiday music during the Christmas concert.
Selections include "Frosty the Snowman," "The Little Drummer Boy," "Auld Lang Syne," "The First Noel," and the Renaissance carol "Patapan." "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson—a favorite of the players—closes this concert each year.
On Sunday, December 4, the Upper School choruses will perform a Music of the Seasons concert, which will feature a wide variety of choral works sure to energize and uplift. Selections range from fresh arrangements of "I Saw Three Ships" and "Silent Night," to a bit of African drumming, featuring the choral works of living American composers. Complete with an audience sing-along, the Music of the Seasons concert will jump start your holiday season.
Both concerts will be held in McCain Chapel. Admission is free.
