WCAT Wins Two Emmy Awards

    For the fourth straight year, WCAT was honored with High School Student Production Awards from the Southeast Emmy Chapter.

    The National Academy of Television Arts and Science’s Southeast Chapter awarded WCAT with two Emmy High School Student Production Awards Monday morning.

    WCAT received awards for Live Sports Event and Audio/Sound. In the Live Sports Event category, Bennett Porson ‘17, William Turton ‘19, and the WCAT staff were recognized for their coverage of varsity football’s second round state playoff game against Savannah High School on November 18, 2016. In the Audio/Sound category, Alex Bean ‘16 and Andrew Shackelford ’16 won for producing senior Owen Ladner's performance of “Across The Universe” for the Second Annual WCAT SoundStage.

    The students will be honored at the Student Production Awards Ceremony, to be held on Saturday, June 17, at 3:00 p.m., at SCADShow in Atlanta. Since 2014, WCAT has won eight Emmy Awards.
