Programs and Events

Westminster’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is woven into the day-to-day student experience. Opportunities to develop an informed understanding of one’s own identity and learn from a broad spectrum of experiences and perspectives are part of the curriculum but also fostered through a variety of experiences and opportunities to connect in community.

Community Opportunities

Students

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion coordinators within each academic divison work with the faculty throughout the school year to develop age-appropriate opportunities for students to celebrate and learn from the backgrounds and identities represented throughout our community and further develop their own sense of self. Programs include:

  • Affinity groups
  • Clubs
  • Cultural and religious observances and celebrations
  • Leadership opportunities
  • Global education opportunities
  • Exchange programs
  • All-division assemblies featuring guest artists and speakers

Faculty and Staff

Retaining and supporting the best educators, coaches, and administrators is a top priority at Westminster. Our faculty and staff are a diverse group of lifelong learners who—like our students—are motivated by challenge. Employees have a wide range of opportunities to engage with one another, develop their own sense of identity, and seek support. Opportunities available to employees include:

  • Affinity group leadership opportunities
  • Professional learning cohorts
  • On-campus professional development
  • National conferences
  • Faculty workshops and working groups

Parents and Alumni

The Wildcat Nation extends far beyond our gates. Parents and alumni play a vital role in creating an inclusive and supportive community. Westminster welcomes parents and alumni back to campus with a variety of opportunities to connect and learn. Programs for parents and alumni include:

  • Parent affinity groups
  • The Black Alumni Council
  • Common Ground Conversations
  • PAWS activities
  • Participating and volunteering at cultural celebrations
  • Special events

Westminster offers a wide range of programs and events dedicated to cultivating a sense of belonging and understanding across differences for all members of our community.

I still remember the very first Everybody Cooks event—it was all about inclusion and highlighting cultures from around the world, and it brought everybody together in a fun family atmosphere.
