Steele Thomas Marcoux '98 is the new editor-in-chief of Veranda, the luxury interior design magazine.
Steele will lead editorial initiatives at the publication after more than a decade of editorial roles at Southern Living, Cottage Living, Coastal Living, and Country Living magazines.
In an interview with Business of Home, Steele discussed what she's most excited about with the new role.
"I’m really excited about making decorating more fun again," she says. "I want to be serious about the work, but I also think this is fun for people—they’re obsessed, they love it, so really leaning into that is important. Celebrating craftsmanship is also really important to me, and I know it’s important to our partners and our audience as well. In this day and age, everybody wants to know the story behind what they buy, the historical roots and what inspired the artisan who made it."
Veranda, which was acquired by Hearst in 2002, is one of the world's most exquisitely produced interior design magazines. Published six times per year, Veranda is distinguished by its artful representation of interiors, gardens, table settings, and floral arrangements.
