The boys cross country team took first place at the 11th annual Kosh Klassic on Saturday, August 18.
The Wildcats won in both the varsity and JV races. The varsity team defeated second-place North Hall High School by 19 points with scores of 59 and 78, respectively. The team had an average course time of 18:25. Zachary Roe '20 was the top Westminster finisher, placing fourth with a time of 17:26.08. All of the team's top five finishers placed in the top 20.
In the JV race, the Wildcats defeated Archer High School by 40 points with team scores of 22 and 62, respectively. All of the team's top finishers placed in the top 10: Matthew Fernando '22, Hampton Maxim '19, Whitaker Swann '22, Will Mills '20, and Patrick Nagy '22. Matthew placed first overall with a time of 18:39.18, finishing more than 40 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.
The competition, named after the legendary late coach Paul Koshewa, draws hundreds of runners and dozens of schools each year.
