The varsity boys and girls track and field teams had stellar showings at the state championship as the boys team was crowned Class AAA state champions and the girls team finished second in the state.
The boys' win earned the program its fifth all-time state title and first since 2013.
In addition to the boys team championship, the girls and boys had eight individual state champions.
Boys Team Individual Results:
In the 800-meter run, Matthew Fernando '22 placed second with a time of 1:54.29. Matthew was the state champion in the 1600 meter, finishing in 4:14.83.
The Wildcats placed first in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 7:55.84 and finished third in the 1600-meter relay.
In shot put, Phillips Moore '24 received gold with a throw of 51-0.50 and Ejike Adele '21 received silver with a throw of 47-11.75.
In discus, Phillips was the state champion with a throw of 150-5.
Girls Team Individual Results:
Grace Smith '24 finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.29.
In the 1600-meter run, Palmer Walstad '23 placed first with a time of 5:04.36 and Cate Stevens '22 finished third (5:13.13).
Palmer was the state champion in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:52.16.
Grace was the champion in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.62, and she placed second in the 300-meter hurdels with a time of 43.11.
The Wildcats finished first in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:50.61.
In the high jump competition, Kelsey Chambers '23 placed third. Sabrina Farley-Allen '23 placed third in the pole vault.
In long jump, Grace placed second with a jump of 19-7, and Kelsey was crowned the state champion in the triple jump with a jump of 38-4.
