Cross Country Teams Win 2019 State Championships

Westminster's boys and girls cross country teams claimed the Class AAA state titles on Saturday, November 2.

For the third consecutive year, the boys team won the state meet, claiming the program's 28th title. The team—coached by Joe Tribble—was led by two top-ten finishers: Zachary Roe '20, and Matthew Fernando '22. The Cats had an average course time of 17:15 and finished with 74 points, just ahead of runner-up Pace Academy.

The girls cross country squad clinched its seventh straight state title and 32nd overall. It is the team's 24th state title under the guidance of head coach Amy Eubanks. The Sisterhood had three runners—Mira Srinivasa '22, Palmer Walstad '23, and Janie Cooper '22—in the top ten. All seven runners were in the top 30. Mira won the individual championship with a time of 19:49.17. With an average course time of 20:40, the Cats finished with 39 points, 16 points ahead of runner-up Pace.
