The girls and boys varsity soccer teams successfully defended their Class AAA titles at the state championship games Friday, May 11.
The girls team won their 12th state title—the most in GHSA girls soccer history—following a thrilling matchup against Lovett that ended in penalty kicks. The Wildcats came out on top 3-3 (4-2) with goals by Smith Patton '20 and Merritt Smith '19, and successful penalty kicks from Annie Bernot '18, Tori Penn '20, Emma Tordella '18, and Madeline Langley '19.
The 2018 title is the fourth consecutive state championship for the girls program.
The boys team defended its 2017 championship with a 1-0 victory over Calhoun.
The game was scoreless into the second half until Danny DeSouza '19 scored with three minutes remaining.
The 2018 title is the 13th championship for the Wildcats, the most in GHSA boys soccer history.
