For the 19th time in 20 years, Westminster has won the Regions Bank AAA Director’s Cup given annually by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA).
The award comes after a school year that saw the Wildcats win eight state championships. The Director’s Cup recognizes "those athletic departments in all Georgia High School Association classifications who have excelled and shown superior performance” throughout all three seasons.
Westminster finished with 1,438 points in the final standings, nearly 200 points ahead of runner-up Jefferson High School. Westminster also had more overall points than any school across GHSA classifications. The Wildcats also won the separate boys and girls cups, which are awarded to schools for excellence in programming for a specific gender.
The Cats finished with 738 points in the boys standings after winning state titles in cross country, swimming and diving, soccer, lacrosse, and golf. The Wildcats also had extensive state playoff runs in football, track and field, tennis, baseball, basketball, and wresting. The School has earned the GADA boys cup in each of the 17 years that it has been awarded.
On the girls side, Westminster finished with 700 points. The Wildcats won three GHSA girls state titles during the 2018-19 school year: cross country, swimming and diving, and soccer. The Cats were runners-up in the volleyball championship and had playoff appearances in tennis, gymnastics, track and field, lacrosse, and softball. This is the 11th time since 2003 that Westminster has won the GADA girls cup.
For the 10th consecutive year, Westminster has won the Regions Bank AAA Director’s Cup, awarded annually to the athletic department that has “excelled and shown superior performance” throughout all three seasons.
