Student-Produced Films Selected for National Film Festival

Two short films produced by Upper School students have been selected for the 2020 All American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF).

Marked and Disowned were created by the student-run production group StudioW and will be shown at AAHSFF, the world's largest high school and middle school film, photography, and media arts festival.

Marked, a sci-fi drama, was directed by Madeline Simpson '21 and Sam Cohn '21, produced by Jonas Du '21, with Andrew Stevens '20 as cinematographer. Actors include Max Linkon '20, Eliza Fleming '20, Will Batelaan '21, and Eva Carlton '22.

The drama Disowned was directed by Andrew Stevens '20 and produced and photographed by Jonas Du '21. Actors include Kevin Qian '13 and Kaelan Kelly '21. Cellists Alex Lee '22 and Eric Na '27 also made appearances in the film.

The production crew included assistant director Patrick Nagy '22; audio mixers Rahul Ramineni '22, Austin Reiner '22, and Hayes Wilkiemeyer '22; grips Sabrina Farley-Allen '23, Alex Zeiler '22, Rachel Doman '22, and Sam Levine '22; and SFX editor Yash Kadadi '21.

The AAHSFF includes screenings of hundreds of the best high school films from around the world, networking events for young filmmakers, the Teen Indie Awards Show, film invitational competitions, and more. The festival will take place virtually October 1-13.

Including this year’s selections, StudioW has had a total of four official selections at the AAHSFF.
