The Upper School's Science Bowl team tied for fifth place in the National Science Bowl (NSB) competition.
The team—Ridings Bald '20, Anup Bottu '20, David Goetze '20, Aaron Yu '21, and Mason Yu '23—participated in the virtual event and made it to the quarterfinal round. Thirty-two teams from across the country competed in the national championship.
The NSB, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, brings together thousands of middle and high school students from across the country to compete in a fast-paced question-and-answer format where they solve technical problems and answer questions on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth and space science, physics and math.
Westminster placed ninth in the nation last year and previously won the national title in 1994.
