Ridings Bald '20 will be one of just 20 students nationwide to vie for a spot on the United States team at the International Chemistry Olympiad.
Ridings placed in the top 20 on the National Chemistry Olympiad exam, earning him an invitation to attend a two-week study camp where students are selected for the international competition.
The top 20 students are chosen from approximately 1,000 students who are asked to take the National Chemistry Olympiad exam and nearly 17,000 students from across the country who took local exams.
During the two-week camp at the University of Maryland, the students will receive college-level training through a series of lectures, problem-solving exercises, lab work, and testing. At the conclusion of the camp, the top four students will compete on the U.S. team at the 51st International Chemistry Olympiad in Paris in July.
