A Note from the Class Reunion Committee

Dear fellow 1975 classmates,

Taylor Swift isn’t the only one who gets an Era. It’s been 50 short years since we all gathered at Clay Smith’s farm in May 1975 to celebrate our graduation and the end of our illustrious Westminster Era, and what an Era it was! Our senior year was bookended by Nixon’s resignation in August 1974 and the end of the Vietnam War in April 1975. Captain and Tennille might have had the number one song in 1975, but our Era was more aptly defined by Joni Mitchell, the Allman Brothers Band, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Little Feat, the Grateful Dead, Sweet Baby James and Jimmy Buffett. Jaws and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest were released, both of which were a bit disturbing to our young minds. Microsoft was founded, and little did we know where that was heading…. We left Westminster, we left our friends, and then, as innocent and idealistic eighteen-year-olds, we left home and were off to college, to see and conquer the world, some to return to Atlanta and others to settle elsewhere.

Now it’s time for our more mature Era! Wherever you find yourself (geographically or idealistically), come join us as we reconvene, relive and reconnect in April 2025 for our 50th reunion. We’ve already been working hard to make it a reunion to remember – “remember” being the operative word. Whether you hung out on the Administration Building steps listening to Frank Finsthwait, in the chorale room with Frank Boggs, in the theater with Durwood, on the soccer field with Coach Sims, on the baseball field with Coach Lloyd, in the pool with Pete Higgins, in the dorms, in the labs, in the parking lot or woods hiding from Mr. Patton and Frau Flaschka, or anywhere else on our beautiful campus, we want you! Catch up on who’s doing what and where and find all the many new ways we can now connect. Seven degrees of separation is real. So, whether you live around the corner or in another country, we hope you will reserve your spot now, as over 40 classmates have done already! Truly, it won’t be the same without you, so sign up now, add your music to the Spotify playlist, finish your Reunion Book entry, and we look forward to seeing everybody In April!
