A Note from the Class Reunion Committee
Dear Fellow 1985 Classmates,
1985 had many notable events (some even more profound than our own high school graduation). Ronald Reagan was sworn in for his second term as President of the United States, “We Are the World” was recorded by an ensemble of musicians for African Famine relief, NEW Coke was launched (soon to be known as one of the worst marketing flops in history!), “Back to the Future” was released, the “Live Aid” concerts took place shortly after our graduation, and Wham! (“Careless Whisper” and “Wake Me Up Before You GO GO”), Madonna (“Like A Virgin”), Foreigner (“I Want to Know What Love Is”), and Tears for Fears (“Everybody Wants to Rule the World” (I actually still like that one!)) were ruling the airwaves (remember what those were?!?). Meanwhile, we were having a lot of fun hanging out at Jalisco’s, Fellini’s on Peachtree, and at El Azteca while anticipating our graduation from high school and the promises of college in the Fall (inclusive of a lot less parental supervision).
Some of us may even remember a few bits of the Senior Trip down at that ratty blue Motel on Ft. Walton Beach. I guess that marked the beginning of the end of parental supervision as there was none for that trip and it took place right after graduation. Who would even consider that today?
Anyway, much has changed since 1985, but what remains is our shared experience as Westminster Wildcats and our memories. Whether those memories are of a favorite teacher or coach (Victory!), Mardi Gras, Friday night football games, a musical or theatrical performance, or fried chicken dinners in the dining hall, we each have something that we remember fondly even after all these years.
Your reunion committee is hard at work preparing a fun-filled weekend for our 40th class reunion. We hope that every one of you will join us in April to reconnect with one another, reminisce about old times, and strengthen old and forge new friendships. Without you there, it is not The Westminster Class of 1985 Reunion. Please plan to attend!
