Westminster’s COVID-19 Return to Sport protocols have been developed using resources from the CDC, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and the Georgia High School Association (GHSA). They include:
Masks are to be worn inside and outside and upon arrival/departure to facilities.
Masks can be removed with permission for the supervised activities of swimming, distance running or other high intensity aerobic activity and where social distancing is possible. To ensure proper fit, students will need to supply their own masks. Back up masks will be available.
Coaches, officials and other contest personnel must wear masks at all times.
Cleaning schedules will be implemented for all athletic facilities to mitigate any communicable diseases.
Prior to an individual or groups of individuals entering a facility, hard surfaces within that facility will be wiped down and sanitized (chairs, furniture in meeting rooms, locker rooms, weight room equipment, bathrooms, athletic training room tables, etc.).
Please refer to Westminster's Stronger Together COVID-19 page for the School's Exposure Response Protocols, Contact Tracing, and Communications. Please note that for the purposes of participation in athletic activities, the CDC’s definition of a close contact requiring a 7- or 10-day quarantine (including all household members—siblings, parents, etc.) will include any of the following:
You were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more,
You had direct physical contact with the person,
You shared eating or drinking utensils,
They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you.
Additionally, per the Georgia Department of Health, student-athletes who end quarantine after day 7 or 10 can return to practice and competition if they can adhere to mitigation measures, including appropriate mask usage at all times. Siblings of close contacts may return to normal practices/competitions immediately once cleared for in-person return.
